The data
- Schedules: NJ TRANSIT bus and rail GTFS for Wednesday, November 4, 2026, from the Mobility Database archive. Counted per stop, per hour, in the county and within 1.5 km of it.
- Car-free households: American Community Survey table B08201, ACS 2024 5-year, through Census Reporter. 16,114 of 144,114 households across 84 tracts.
- Where people live: 2020 Census block housing counts. Tract totals are spread across blocks by housing units, which assumes car-free households are spread like housing.
- Route 130 Connection: stops from Mercer County's public route layer, active in hours with a departure in the September 2023 timetable. Every stop counts in every such hour, which favors the route.
How it is mapped, and why Amazon Location
- Amazon Location Pedestrian isolines give a 10-minute walk from each of 1,012 stops along the street network, so a suburb with long blocks gets the smaller area it really has. Each hour's service area is the union of the stops running in that hour.
- Amazon Location Routes supplies the transit and driving times in each tract's journey table, from one point inside the tract at each departure time.
- Amazon Location Maps draws the base map through MapLibre. Everything is precomputed and served from Amazon S3 through CloudFront.
What to keep in mind
- This map shows scheduled service. It may be incomplete, inaccurate or out of date, and is not for trip planning. Check with the operator.
- Not included: Princeton University TigerTransit, the Princeton municipal shuttle, the Mercer Z-Line and on-demand or paratransit services. Reach is understated where they run.
- Journey times come from Amazon Location's transit data, which may not include the Route 130 Connection. "No route" means Amazon Location returned none.
- Tract estimates carry wide margins. Household counts here are modeled estimates.
- Service is counted by scheduled departure hour for one weekday. The 10-minute walk is at Amazon Location's walking pace of about 1 m/s measured from its results here.
